Happy snow day! I’m still trying to wrap my mind around the fact that Houston and you all got snow and we got nothing! Crazy. I’m glad you’ve been enjoying it. I’ll have to share your gumbo recipes with local friends who have made it and see how the recipes compare. They’d gotten the right spices for theirs and it was delicious. Also, I love it when my kids cook, too, though I was just thinking the other day that they’re going to need some more practice. Ah well, soon enough they’ll get it!
You're welcome! Don't let the timing scare you. It has never taken me 40 minutes to make roux. If you're nervous, keep the heat low and take your time. When you get a feel for it you can speed it up a bit.
Such an amazing wonderland — we got around 8 inches at our house. And yes, I’m with you — I was thankful for not having to change all my children in and out of snow clothes. The gumbo recipe is awesome, but I generally leave gumbo-making to the experts!😉
Are there people there who like mowing the lawn? Well, that's how some people here feel about snow-shoveling! I guess there are even moms out there who enjoy housework and laundry, ha! But not nearly as much as snowsuited kids and fluffy dogs enjoy fresh snow. 😉
Snow days were glorious-slow, everyone home and soup!
I've never made gumbo but will try it!

Thank you for sharing your gumbo recipe! I shy away from making it because it’s hard to find a good recipe…
