Excellent progress report! There are some great travel tips here. I particularly like the idea of bringing one’s own coffee maker (and, of course, coffee).
Lacy, it was so funny! My mom was over here telling us good-bye and then she told us about Nanny's advice. And then Steve forgot something so both of us made him go through the whole process! I admit it was a peaceful way to begin a trip. (Of course we always pray before we leave the driveway too!)
Ok. I shamelessly stole that from Jonathan R. In a conversation last week I mentioned we moved a lot when I was little because my dad hip-hopped around. And Mr. Quick-Comeback said, "Oh, he was a hip-hop artist?"
Hi Renee, enjoyed reading this. I have yet to travel much... I think I need to find my traveling buddy who will break me out of my shell. Blessings to you!
Brenda it is SO good to hear from you! I can't believe that Michael is 25 now. Where have the years flown off to?? With all your sweet family around, I think you need to talk those girls into a "girls trip" somewhere close by. Find an Air BNB in the hill country and go spend the weekend together! I did this with my daughters (and daughter in law) last month and it was lovely.
Hi Kathy! Activity - walking around Williamsburg and seeing the beautiful flowers and homes. It wasn't crowded at all and we had beautiful weather. Meal? Without a doubt it was The Restaurant at Gideon Ridge in Blowing Rock, NC. Also favorite state. The scenery is just breathtaking. Also favorites, and in their own category: visiting friends and family along the way. That made the trip so much more special!
Well that was a fun read, and gave me a little more delightful view into your world. I might attempt a similar breakdown on the next excursion with my wife. I do wonder if you guys squabble. My wife likes listening to political news. I have no interest in it whatsoever. I like a wider range in music, though we come together around Bob Bennett and Bruce Cockburn. The latter is funny to me because she doesn't like his politics, but loves his voice. I take my Dolly is small increments, but I love when the Playlist matches the setting.
That's an interesting question! I think after being married for 44 years (next week!) we have learned what isn't worth arguing about. Especially in close quarters! I'll work a little harder to find a book or playlist we both like. I don't like Beatles or Rolling Stones and Steve isn't crazy about Barry Manilow. (But I'm not either any more so we're good.) I love the Trio recordings with Dolly, Linda, and Emmylou. I'm old school.

Have to start the day right! (Also better to bring and not need than get stuck... It happens.)
Loved this, especially your great-grandmother Alice’s advice…I’m going to start doing this!

"I guess you could say we are Hip Hop Artists."
